Obituary for Alice LaVonne McNace

Alice LaVonne McNace, age 84, of Boone, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Graveside Services are Friday, September 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Linwood Park Cemetery with Rev. Duane Lundberg officiating. Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning.

Alice was born in Boone, Iowa, on November 11, 1932, the daughter of Raymond and Marie Brown. She graduated from Boone High School in 1950. On December 13, 1952, she married William McNace in Boone. Alice was a bookkeeper, teller, and worked in the loan department at Boone State Bank. She retired in 1984. Alice enjoyed traveling, watching the Golden Girls and loved watching her kids play ball. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill; son, Daniel and a son-in-law, Jeff Vickers and nine siblings, Mildred Hawn, Margaret Ward, Maurice Brown, Lois Crain, Jeanette Hopson, Cleo Brown, Cecil Brown, Francis Sullivan and Lloyd Brown. She is survived by her daughter, Janelle Vickers of Boone; daughter-in-law, Terry McNace of Van Meter; four grandchildren, Jeffery Vickers of Boone, Mindy Vickers of Boone, Stacy Peterson and husband, Mike, of Van Meter and David McNace and wife, Lauren of South Bend, Indiana and three great-grandchildren, Landon, Christopher and Haylee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the family.

The Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at 6th and Marshall are helping the family with arrangements.
