Obituary for Dale Paul Eppert

Dale Eppert, 88 of Luther, passed from this life Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home. Following Dale’s wishes, he has been cremated.

Dale Paul Eppert was born November 9, 1928 in Boone County, the son of D. Paul ‘Pete’ and Luceil (Rainbolt) Eppert. He was raised and lived in Luther all of his life. On June 26, 1951, Dale married Jo Ann Magnani in Des Moines, Iowa. Dale worked for Boone County for 40 years in the Road Maintenance Department and he also farmed. He loved riding his motorcycle, restoring Farmall tractors, and the ISU Cyclones. He was a loving, caring, and greatly devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jo Ann of Luther; son Dale (Cathy) Eppert, of Stanhope; daughter Shelia Vest (Joe McKenna) of Des Moines; son Denny (Dody) Eppert, of Luther; grandchildren, Tracy (Val) Vest, Troy (Vickie) Vest, Katelyn (Genaro) Garcia; step grandchildren, Joshua and Tony Smith; and great grandchildren, Megan, Avery, Ashley, and Courtney, and Raylin; a brother and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, and his best friend, Boots, his dog.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Hospice Nurses, and staff at the Eastern Star Masonic Home.

Per his wishes there will be no funeral services, but there will be a family service held and burial in the Squire Boone Cemetery at a later date. Donations for the memorial can be given to Kindred Hospice, 5399 Chimra Rd., Panora, IA 50216 or the ARL.
