Obituary for David Vernon McClain

David McClain, 67, of Boone, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Boone County Hospital.

Following his wishes, he has been cremated. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall. Friends may call Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the Chapel.

David Vernon McClain, was born May 3, 1950 in Tacoma, Washington, the son of Estes and Barbara Sue (Owen) McClain. He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On July 23, 2005, David was united in marriage to Janice Baker in Boone, Iowa.

David worked as a carpet and tile layer at Berns Floor Covering in Carroll, Iowa. He enjoyed making stained glass artwork, wire sculptures, gambling especially poker, working in his yard and spending time with his dog, Lily. In his younger years he enjoyed playing pool.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Barbara “Bobbi”. He is survived by his wife, Janice; two daughters, Kelly (Travis) DuCray of Gilbert, Arizona and Tracy Huffman of La Porte, Indiana; three step-children, Cecilia (Jeff) Moore of West Des Moines, Jessica (Paul) Graves of Osceola and Jeremiah Baldus of Boone and two siblings, Patricia Sue (Clifford) Hughes of New Carlisle, Indiana and John Benjamin Helm of Boone.

Memorials may be directed to the family and will be donated at a later time.
