Obituary for DeWayne Leonard Frampton

DeWayne Frampton, age 90 of Boone, died at the Eastern Star Masonic Home on February 27, 2018.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, Boone with Rev. Doug Cue officiating. Burial will be in the Bass Point Cemetery.

DeWayne Leonard Frampton, was born in Boone, Iowa on December 18, 1927, the son of Willard E. and Goldie M. (Harden) Frampton. He graduated from Jordan Consolidated School on May 8, 1945. After high school, DeWayne worked for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a signalman until he enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He served his country honorably aboard the U.S.S. Scania AKA-40 in the Pacific for two years. On September 21, 1947, DeWayne married Marilyn Jo Freel at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. DeWayne was a sergeant in the Iowa State Patrol. He was stationed in New Hampton, Clear Lake and Bettendorf with 27 years of service before his retirement in 1983. He also farmed several years in Boone County.

DeWayne was a 50 year member of the United Methodist Church, Past President of the Boone Lions Club, member of the American Legion, the Masons Mount Olive Lodge No. 79 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J. 32 Valley of Davenport, Orient of Iowa. Also a member of Magi Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, & Past Patron. Served on the Iowa Board “Crossroads of Iowa, Area Agency on Aging”. Member of Iowa Peace Officers Organizations: Iowa State Patrol 20 Year Club, Iowa State Patrol Supervisors Association, Iowa State Police Association, and Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers, Inc. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s school and sporting activities. He also loved farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. DeWayne is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Tim Frampton and his wife, Karen of Clear Lake and Kevin Frampton and his wife, Cheryl of Urbandale; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Church from 10:30 A.M. until service time.
