Obituary for Deane Eugene Eckley

Deane Eckley, age 91, of Boone passed away February 23, 2017 at the Boone County Hospital.

Deane Eugene Eckley, was born on the family farm in Boone, Iowa on February 24, 1924, the son of Eugene and Elsie (Krumm) Eckley. Deane married Lois Hauge on December 22, 1946. Deane farmed in Boone County, Iowa all his life, along with custom shelling and combining. Deane, with his brother Harlan, raised cattle and would haul them to the Omaha stockyard. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and Minnesota. Deane also enjoyed golfing and following Iowa State Cyclone athletics.

Deane is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois, infant twin sisters, Dorothy and Anna, brother Dutch and sister Betty. He is survived by his three children; Gary (Margo) Eckley of Ames, Doug (Dee) Eckley of Panora and Dee (Jim) Tometich of Panora; eight grandchildren, Kade (Jeri) Eckley, Chase (Samantha) Eckley, Gabrielle (Robert) Patterson, Aaron Eckley, Bryce (Jess) Eckley, Brooke (Jeff) Miller, Brock Ford, Drennon (Jonathan) Lakin; four step-grandchildren, Jimmy (Elisabeth) Tometich, Chrissy (Ryan) Bristle, Rachel Tometich and Marjie Tometich and ten great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 2 until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 until 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
