Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Stumbo

Elizabeth Ann Stumbo, 93, of Boone and the Westhaven Community, died August 17, 2017 at the Westhaven Community.

A Private Family Graveside service will be held in the Bluff Creek Cemetery in Rural Boone. There will be no visitation hours.

Elizabeth Ann (Ross) Stumbo, was born April 2, 1924 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Marie (Stotts) Ross. She graduated from Boone High School in 1942. On May 16, 1942, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Arnold Staley. Arnold was killed in Italy during WWII. On September 30, 1944, Elizabeth married Raymond Stumbo Sr. at the Bell Tower in Jefferson, Iowa.

In her younger years, Elizabeth worked for a Hemp plant during WWII, then she worked at the former Places Store, then she worked for Oshkosh Tanning in Boone until her retirement in 1986. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her dog, Coco. Most of all, she enjoyed talking and spending time with her family.

Elizabeth is survived by her six children, Raymond (Joyce) Stumbo Jr. of Boone, Ida Williams of Boone, Frank (Nanette) Stumbo of Boone, Jane Boersma of Boone, Chris (Richard) Miller of Boone, and Marie (Kent) Pickering of Eldora; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Hope Linker of Texas.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Arnold; second husband, Ray; one son, Richard Stumbo; one daughter, Joanne Davisson; one grandchild, Lisa Boersma; one great-great-grandchild, Brandon Schmidt and three sons-in-law, Dale Williams, Richard Boersma and Danny Davisson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the family.
