Obituary for John Smith

John C. Smith, age 67 of Bouton and formerly of Boone, died May 26, 2017 at his home.
Following his wishes, John has been cremated. Visitation will be Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, from 4 until 8 p.m. The family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.

John Charles Smith, was born in Boone, Iowa on March 13, 1950, the son of Charles and Eva (Smith) Smith. He graduated from Boone High School in 1968 and on March 13, 1969, John married Rebecca Sue Crooks in Boone. In earlier years, John worked with his father and his brothers with the former Chuck’s Electric in Boone. He later worked as an electrician at the Woodward State Hospital, retiring in 2009.

John enjoyed working on cars, cooking, vegetable and flower gardening, watching TV, listening to music, especially Blue Grass, and taking care of his cats and dogs and strays. He especially enjoyed working in his yard and mowing the grass.

John is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mindi Clements, and three brothers, Robert, Donald, and Ronald Smith.

He is survived by a son, Sean Smith of Woodward; a daughter, Tina Jo Smith of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Nancy Larson and husband Don of Stratford; seven grandchildren, Kody Clements, Kory Smith, Kylie Pierce and husband Andrew, Kassie Smith, Kelsey Leonard and husband Danny, Lindsay Woods, Taylor Andrews; several nieces and nephews.

In memory of John, memorials may be directed to the family.
