Obituary for Judy K. Thuney

Judy Thuney, age 76 of Boone, died at her home on December 12, 2016. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, with Rev. Doug Cue officiating. Burial will be in the Bass Point Cemetery.
Judith Kay Eastberg was born in Boone, Iowa on November 19, 1940, the daughter of Edwin and Audrey (Williams) Eastberg.

On February 14, 1979, Judy married Vernon ‘Vern’ Thuney at Las Vegas, Nevada. In earlier years, Judy worked as a book keeper at the F W Woolworth Store and Sandler Bilt Homes, both formerly in Boone. Judy later worked side by side with her husband Vern, helping run the family company, ‘Vern Thuney Trucking Co’. She enjoyed gardening, her dogs, and supporting the Boone Area Humane Society. She and Vern enjoyed camping and pontooning at Don Williams Lake and visiting Casinos. Judy was a member of First United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Loyal Order of Moose #104.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vern, and a brother Mervyn Eastberg.
Judy is survived by a daughter Camella Elsner of Ogden and a son Scott Sovereign of Osaka, Japan; two grandchildren, Evan Elsner and Eddie ‘Taylor’ Elsner; and her companion and best friend, her poodle, Pepe.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel on Friday from 3 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.On Saturday friends may call from 8 a.m. until service time.
