Obituary for Lillian Allison

Lillian Allison, age 90, of Boone, died January 3, 2017 at the Boone County Hospital.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1:30 p.m., at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Pastor Bruce Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens.

Lillian Mae (Scovel) Allison, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 28, 1926, the daughter of Herbert and Jeanetta (Hook) Scovel. She graduated from St. Charles Consolidated High School in St. Charles, Minnesota in 1944. On January 8, 1946, Lillian married Orville Allison at the Bethel Church, southwest of Boone.

In earlier years, Lillian was employed at Hawkeye Laundry in Boone, the Green Giant Canning Company in Ames, and the R.H. Donnelly Company in Nevada. Lillian spent her later life performing volunteer work. She was a member of RSVP of which she volunteered for 30 years. Lillian also performed volunteer work for the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad, for the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce at their Information Caboose on South Story Street, and for the Boone County Department of Human Services at the Red Rock Community Action Center, from where she officially retired in 1991.

Lillian enjoyed crochet, embroidery, crafts, cooking, reading, especially paper back westerns and mystery, vegetable and flower gardening: Lillian especially loved red roses and sunflowers. She hand feed her backyard squirrels, and cared for her dogs and cats; mostly cats in her later life.
She and husband, Orville enjoyed traveling to Los Vegas and Idaho to visit family, and they collected small mementos from the states they visited. Lillian also was a home car mechanic with her husband.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother Joe Scovel.
Lillian is survived many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Saturday from noon until service time.
