Obituary for Marjorie Lou Buechler

Marjorie Buechler, age 90, of Boone and the Westhaven Community, died September 8, 2017 at the Westhaven Community. Her wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Janell Bloem officiating. A private family graveside and burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.

Marjorie Lou (Rowat) Buechler, was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 13, 1927, the daughter of Tom and Lulu (Pugh) Rowat. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1944 and graduated from Iowa State University in 1948 with a degree in Home Economics. Marjorie married Eugene Buechler on March 21, 1948, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Des Moines. The couple raised four children on their farm in Boone County. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Boone County Farm Bureau, the Federated Club, and American Women’s Ministries, of which she held local and regional offices. Marjorie enjoyed crafts, ceramics, knitting, and reading Christian literature. She was an impeccable organizer and hostess.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene A. Buechler in 2014; a niece Karen Van Drasek; John and Frances Rowat; Robert Rowat; Kenneth Fink; and Marvin and Arlene Buechler.
Marjorie is survived by Ronald Buechler (Pam Stauch) of Kingman, Arizona, and Ron’s children: Ann Buechler (Collin Newton) of Kent Washington, and Ronnie Buechler of Sacramento, California; Deb (Darrell) Nelson of Boone, and their children: Scott (Cheryl) Nelson of Evergreen, Colorado, Walker and Sullivan; Brad (Jen) Nelson of Clive, Payton and Fisher; Eric (Jodi) Nelson of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and Hunter and Maddox; Layna (Nader) Marab of Bothell, Washington and their children: Leah (Aaron) Burris of Centennial, Colorado, Wesley, Melanie Marab (Dan Yoo) of Kirkland, Washington, Kalyn Marab of Quilcene, Washington; Dan (Deb) Buechler of Boone and Deb’s children: Timber (Colby) Herron of Van Meter, Hudson and Bowen, Tyler (Natalie) Whipple of Story City, and Bristol and Reid; sisters-in-law, Doris Fink and Eileen Rowat both of Des Moines.
Marjorie will be missed by all.

Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, at Sixth and Marshall, on Thursday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. On Friday, friends may call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
In memory of Marjorie, memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church.
