Obituary for Mary A Anderson

Mary Anderson, age 73, of Garner, Iowa and formerly of Boone, died December 17, 2016 at the Concord Care Center in Garner.
Mary has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., at the Marion Street United Methodist Church in Boone, with Rev. James Barnett officiating. Burial of her cremains will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery in Pilot Mound at a later date.

Mary Agness Riley was born in Los Angeles, California on October 21, 1943, the daughter of Otto and Gladys Riley. On July 3, 1982, Mary married Joseph Anderson at Nevada, Iowa. She and Joe lived in the Boone and Pilot Mound areas and were married 19 years until his death in 2001.

Mary worked for the former Heinrich Envelope in Boone for 23 years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, baking cookies and candies and listening to Gospel music. Mary especially enjoyed attending the annual Anderson Birthday Bash.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, Joseph Joplin Anderson, a grandson, Brayden Mattox Slagle, and two sisters, Jane Koenig and Florence Jackson.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Danielle Spencer and husband Daniel of Garner; a brother Lawrence Riley of Beatrice, Nebraska; a sister Darlene Sego of Ogden; two grandchildren, Joseph Slagle and Athena Slagle, and other family and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Danielle and Daniel Spencer, 355 E 12th Street, Apt 7, Garner, Iowa, 50438.
The family wishes to thank Marion Street United Methodist Church and the Concord Care Center for their care and concern for Mary through the last 15 years.
