Obituary for Mary Wood

Mary Wood, age 94, formerly of Boone, died March 25, 2017 at State Center Specialty Care in State Center. Mary has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall. Burial of her cremains will be in the Bass Point Cemetery.

Mary Amanda (Siddall) Wood, was born on a farm near Laurens, Iowa, on August 2, 1922, the daughter of George and Jessie (Russell) Siddall. She married Leonard Wood in Pocahontas, Iowa, on August 21, 1943. Mary was a devoted wife and mother, and enjoyed going for drives in a car or driving her power wheelchair. She really enjoyed her life in spite of it's many challenges. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

From 1975 to 1996, Mary and Leonard enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, and a daughter Mary Elaine Wood. Mary is survived by three daughters, Sharon McCargar and husband Ron of Boone, Beverly Hagen and husband Steve of Ames, and Vona Currier and husband Larry of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, Judy McCargar, Ron McCargar and wife Sarah, Sean McCargar and wife Megan, and Steve McCargar and wife Amy; Stacy Sanford and husband Adam, and Scott Hagen; Katherine Currier, Kira Currier, and Kristal Currier; 12 great-grandchildren. 

Friends may call at the Funeral Chapel on Thursday, from noon until service time. The family will be present.
