Obituary for Michelle M Whyte

Michelle M. Whyte, 46, of Des Moines, died May 21, 2017 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Following her wishes, she has been cremated.

Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, at Sixth and Marshall, on Thursday from 3 until 7 p.m. where the family will be present from 5 until 7 p.m. There will be a private graveside service at a later date.

Michelle Marie Whyte was born in Boone, Iowa, on October 6, 1970, the daughter of Thomas and Sandra (Rodenburg) Whyte. She graduated from Boone High School in 1989. Michelle attended the University of Minnesota and then attended the DMACC Culinary Arts program in Ankeny. Prior to graduating she completed an internship in France. Following graduation, Michelle worked as a chef at the Marriott Hotel in Des Moines. She enjoyed hosting grill outs, attending rock concerts, traveling, and especially loved being with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents. Michelle is survived by her parents, Thomas and Sandra of Boone; two sisters, Sheri (Brent) Reutter of Boone and Sheila Whyte of Des Moines; one brother, Thomas (Donna) Whyte Jr. of Omaha, NE ; five nieces, Ashley (Mike) Redeker, Kaitlin Whyte, Megan Whyte, Kylie Stevenson, Briana Noble; two nephews, Blane (Liz) Reutter and Grant Stevenson; one great-niece, Reagan Redeker and her beloved dog, Zoie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
