Obituary for Susan Bray

Susan Bray, age 70 of Boone, died January 6, 2017 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames after a lengthy illness.

A Graveside Service will be Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bass Point Cemetery, north of Boone, with Rev. Randy Schon officiating.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel, at Sixth and Marshall, on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. On Wednesday, friends may call from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Susan Carol (Harris) Bray was born in Boone, Iowa on July 12, 1946, the daughter of Chester and Jeanette (Gilliam) Harris. She was a graduate of Boone High School. On June 27, 1969, Susan married Wayne Bray in Omaha, Nebraska.

Sue worked as a loan officer at Avco Finance and the former Hawkeye Federal Savings Bank in Boone. Sue made many beautiful quilts and enjoyed reading mystery novels and gardening. But, spending time with her Boston terriers gave her the most joy.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Ed Harris. She is survived by her husband Wayne of Boone, her beloved dogs, Chelsea and Cindy, her in-laws, Bob and Rowena Bray and Ted and Fran Bass, and her nieces and nephews.
