Obituary for Dean Jordan

Dean Jordan, age 88, of Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, died December 14, 2018 at the Eastern Star Home in Boone.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Boone, 703 Arden, with Rev. Doug Cue officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the Church followed by burial in the Renner Cemetery, southwest of Boxholm, Iowa.

Dean Linn Jordan, was born in Ralston, Iowa on March 3, 1930, the son of William and Mabel (Linn) Jordan. He graduated from Ralston High School and attended Commercial Extension School in Omaha, Nebraska. On December 18, 1948, Dean married Priscilla Maye Ott in Boxholm, Iowa. Dean grain farmed and raised livestock in Grant Township in Boone County, near Boxholm. He was a member and past president of both the Boone County Farm Bureau and the Boxholm Lions Club. Dean was a member of the Boxholm United Methodist Church and later the First United Methodist Church of Boone. Dean retired in 2006, and he and Priscilla moved to Boone. The couple enjoyed playing cards, camping, and square dancing. During retirement, Dean had much more time for woodworking.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son-in-law, Steve Schroeder, brother-in-law, Bud Ott, and sisters-in-law, Janice Jordan and Marge Jordan. Dean is survived by a son, Kenneth (Becky) Jordan of Collins; daughters, Pamela Schroeder of Boone, and Lacy (Brian) Johnson of Fort Dodge; three brothers, Phil (Ellen) Jordan of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Don (Shirley) Jordan of Lincoln, Illinois, and Larry (Janice) Jordan of Scranton; two sisters-in-laws, Mary Ott of Ogden and Dottie (Robert) Butts of Naples, Florida; seven grandchildren, Jesse (Marla) of Escondido, California, Scott (Michelle) of Grimes, Kimberly (Brent) Kramer of Wasilla, Alaska, Nicholas (Erica) of Atlantic, Andrew (Amanda) of Boone, Benjamin (Brittany) of Boone, and Jordan Johnson of Fort Dodge; 13 great grandchildren, Annika and Dane Jordan, Colton and Dylan Schroeder, Phoebe, Daphine, and Teddy Kramer, Austin and Atlas Jordan, Parker and Ella Schroeder, and Brody and Brooks Schroeder; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, on Wednesday from 2 until 7 p.m., where the family will be present from 5 until 7 p.m. On Thursday morning, friends may call at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

In memory of Dean, memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or the Boone Municipal Band.
