Obituary for Gladys Moore

Gladys May Moore, age 90, of Boone and formerly of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, died on May 7, 2019 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Following her wishes, Gladys has been cremated. Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Burial of her cremains will be in the Chapel Hills Gardens in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois at a later date.

Gladys, who came from a family of musicians, was born on March 24, 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of John and Goldie Bramhall. She was raised in a loving household with four siblings and beautiful music. Her father was a violinist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and she spent her youth watching him perform in the orchestra pits of musicals at various theaters in Chicago, and her summers at Grant Park, where he performed under the stars at the Petrillo Band Shell.

Her grandfather, George Bramhall, was a pianist and composer and played piano for silent movies and he was an accompanist for a famous opera singer. Her great uncle Jacks’ band, was the official band for the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Gladys was married to her first husband in 1953, and to this union her only child, a daughter, Jeri Lynn McGregor was born. In 1963. She married the love of her life, Thomas Moore, who was a beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Together Tom and Gladys created a fun and loving home for Jeri and her friends.

She was a loving mother, who devoted her life to her family. She loved her son-law, Craig, like her own son and was so proud of and cherished her grandsons, Jonathan and Michael.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Goldie Bramhall, her husband, Tom, sisters, Betty and her husband, David Peters, Shirley and her husband, Robert Coudret, her brother, Jack Bramhall, sisters-in-laws, June Moore and Marilyn Lehman and her brother-in-law, Howard Harvey.

Gladys will be missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jeri Lynn Frank and her husband, Craig of Boone; grandsons, Jonathan Frank of Lafayette, Louisiana and Michael Frank of Des Moines. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Harvey of Villa Park, Illinois and brothers-in-law, Robert Moore of Dunedin, Florida and Ruel Lehman of Oak Park, Illinois, plus many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

In memory of Gladys, memorials may be directed to the family or to a charity of your choice in memory of Gladys.

The Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, is in charge of the arrangements.
