Obituary for Julia Teresa Edson-Batt

Julia Edson-Batt, age 60, of Fraser, died Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Julia Teresa Edson-Batt was born on December 4, 1957 in Santa Cruz, California, the daughter of Grant Wilbur and Phyllis Ann (Broux) Shank. She graduated from DMACC in Boone with her AA degree and continued her education to Iowa State University where she graduated with her teaching degree. She was a special needs teacher for many years in the area. From 1986 to 2010, she helped to operated Batt Lawn Service in Boone with the help of longtime companion (husband) Kenneth Roger Batt and was employed by Wal-Mart.

Julia enjoyed spending time with her dog, Cote; long drives in the Iowa countryside, listening to country music, doing crossword puzzles, gardening and cooking with her husband in the kitchen. Julia loved riding horses and spending hours with them.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Batt, her parents and a brother, Tony Shank. Julia is survived by her children, Aaron Batt and Rebecca Batt both of Fraser; her aunt, Mary (Henry Dean) Littrell of Springfield, Illinois and uncle, Edward Broux of Pana, Illinois
