Obituary for Randy Herman Ahrens

Randy Ahrens, 67, of Boone, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home.

Per his wishes Randy has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, December 2, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at TK’s Event Center in Boone.

Randy Herman Ahrens was born on March 17, 1950, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Herman and Lucille (Gleason) Ahrens. He graduated from Boone High School in 1969. On March 25, 1983, Randy married Judith Zachar in Boone, Iowa. Randy was a Welder for Percival Scientific for many years until he went to work for Boone Community Schools in the Maintenance Department where he retired in 2016 after fourteen years of service. Randy enjoyed fishing, boating, building things in his garage, working on cars and watching Cops and Courtroom shows on TV. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Gary Freel. Randy is survived by his wife, Judy of Boone; three children, Bob Ahrens and wife, Jess of Pana, Illinois, Bill Ahrens and wife, Amber of Ogden and Becky Ahrens and Jon Doss of Boone; one granddaughter, Nora Ahrens and three siblings, Leann Freel of Boone, Amanda McCullough and her husband, Larry of Boone and Rick Ahrens of Clinton, Iowa.
